Working for an IT company is a dream of many graduates. Most of us think that we will have to learn computer programming to get a job in an IT company. I understand that computer programming is difficult for many. Not everyone learns how to code. Don’t worry. Even if you are a graduate in Arts, you can make your career in IT company.

An IT company has employees from all the educational background. Even if you don’t have any educational qualification, you can work for these companies. It all depends what skills you have to benefit these companies.

Business Analyst

A Business Analyst is a person who communicates between the customer and the developer. These business analysts are popularly known as ‘BA‘, in short. A BA understands the customer’s requirement and communicate it to the developer. Then, the developer starts working to develop the software as said by the BA.

As a Business Analyst, your work will mostly be verbal and so you must have excellent communication skills. If you are a person who loves talking with people, giving presentations, making notes then this profile may suit you.

The role of a BA is not for the people who like to spend their time alone.

UI Designer

A UI Designer creates the User Interface(UI) of software, website or mobile app that the customers are going to use. Now you understand how important it is to make the interface of an application easy to navigate. The visual appearance of the application should keep the customer engaged and provide them the information easily for what they have come for.

Software Manual Tester

There are mainly two types of testing in the development of a software: Manual testing and Automation testing.

As a Manual Tester, you will test the website or app without doing any coding. You’ll have to manually open website or app, enter values, click the command buttons etc. You’ll access the website or apps like a real customer will do and your job will be to find the bugs. If you know programming, you’re free to develop a tool to automate the task.

When there is any change in the software code, you’ll have to do the testing to make sure there is no more bug. Sometimes, you may also have to communicate with the developer during the testing.

You’ll also have to make reports of all the tests you perform and such reporting is done in Excel sheet. You may also be working on a Defect tracking and other testing tools that will be provided by your company.

Data Analyst

The role of a Data Analyst is to collect the required data, analyze it and interpret it in a way that the clients can understand the data to make strategic business decisions.

A data anlayst’s role is very important in the overall performance of the company. Such people are very strong with numbers as they have to work on large table data and charts using Statistical tools. They also tell the clients about how the company is progressing in a specific area and also advise on reducing the risk factors so the company can perform better.

Data Analysts have to involve with the developers, company leaders for improving the process. They prepare reports for the people in management to make business decisions.

Skills for Data Analyst:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • SQL
  • Knowledge of Power BI or Tableau is desirable

Technical Writer

A Technical Writer is a content writer that writes software or hardware guides, product reviews, technical blogs or journals. Such people are supposed to have a good flair of writing with technical knowledge.

When a user will use a product, he/she should easily understand the product guide that you write. You should be good with English Grammar and vocabulary.

As a technical writer, you may have to work with different departments to understand the product better.

System Administrator

Graphics Designer

You must have knowledge of using the different graphic programs.

Udemy, since it started in 2009, has grown up very fast and become popular among the students and professionals who want to share their learning online. Udemy, being one of the largest online learning platform, competes with other online learning providers like edX and Coursera.

Though there are many courses on Udemy’s website, however, all of them are not available for free. Students have to register on the website and pay for the courses they want to learn. When you search for courses on the website, you usually see a list of courses in front of you. Many of these courses are paid and many are free, but, how are you going to identify which one is free? Don’t worry! I’m here to tell you that trick so you’ll always be able to see the list of only free courses that are available on Udemy.

To find free courses on Udemy

  • Firstly, visit Udemy website. Look for Categories.
  • If you’re using desktop computer or laptop, you’ll find Categories at the left of the Search box.
  • If you’re on mobile phone, you’ll see a three horizontal line at the left of the search button.
  • Click Categories to expand the menu and see list of categories available. Click on the sub-categories to see more specific courses available.
  • Let’s say we want to see all the Digital Marketing courses. For this, navigate Marketing>Digital Marketing>All Digital Marketing.
  • Now, you will be on Digital Marketing Courses page. Scroll down to see the options Filter, Ratings, Video Duration below which you’ll see list of courses with their price.
  • Click Filter option and you’ll see a lot of option to select from. Under Price, select Free and then click Done button.
  • Udemy will show you all the Digital Marketing courses that are available for free.

What are the basic Interview Skills?

To get a job, every job seeker has to go through an interview and one must know the following interview skills that play very important role for an interview. These five interview skills are also the basic skills that an employer expects from a candidate to be its employee.

Basic Interview Skills

  1. Punctual – An employer will never want an employee who comes late for the work or does its job always late. Interview is the last hiring process after which it is going to be decided that you will get the job or not. If you are late for an interview, the employer may think that you are not punctual to time and you may also be late to office for your work.
  • Advise: Be on time for any interview.
  1. Look – When we meet a person, we first go through its look. The employer is going to meet you for the first time in an interview. If you come in dirty clothes, unbuttoned shirt, too much jewelries etc., the employer may not feel good about it. Your bad look may make others feel bad. The employer will not want its company’s environment bad because of you. You do not need to buy new clothes, you can just clean and iron your old clothes before you wear it for an interview.
